Building Overview By: Dickse Fitzgerald; Principal Broker, DwellingsNYC
The limestone-clad structure at 1033 Fifth Avenue was designed in the French Neo-Classic style of Louis XV by Hoppin & Koen and built in 1912. The firm of Hoppin & Koen was also responsible for the design of the former Police Headquarters building on Centre Street in Little Italy, which was sold by the city and converted to a condominium residence in 1988. The building was acquired by Iran in the mid-60's and became the residence of its Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
